My College Days: One Year and Nine Months Later

I started my very first class on January 26, 2015, a few days after my 35th birthday. It was a wonderful time back then. The assignments were easy to do especially the daily checkpoints. It took time and effort to get them done in a seven-day period but it’s worth the work. Within that time, I’ve learned a lot from my instructors like accepting their feedback and correcting my mistakes in my projects. It’s much different from what I’ve learned from high school. I even took English and Math courses to refresh on what I’ve learned all those years ago. Now I can make billboards, logos, and other things that a person with no experience can’t. I’m enrolling in the Bachelor’s Degree Program so I can perfect my craft. Before I learned about Independence University, I was looking for a job to support myself and my mother. It wasn’t until I got this notice in the mail about this online college. I’m used to getting applications from other colleges in the past but this one was very unique. It gives me a free computer to take the courses for the major of my choice (I had to supply the Internet in order to do them). After setting this up, I was able to attend my classes and learn some things in the process. It’s the last month of the year (December). 2016 is almost over–21 days left to be exact. I’ve been at these college for one year and eleven months now. It feels like yesterday when I didn’t know what I would do with my life. Now that I’m enrolled in this online college (Independence University), I learned more than I did when I was in elementary school or high school for that matter. In this mod, I’m learning how to create files in Adobe Photoshop. I never knew I could do that because I always create all of my projects in either Adobe Illustrator or Adobe InDesign. It’s the price of being a Graphic Designer by learning how to use all of the Adobe programs along with the tools involved in them. Along with writing short stories in my spare time, I can use what I know to create my own video games. I’ll create my own characters and make some storylines. It’s something that I want to do in the future. I would have a college degree as well as the work to back it up. Everyone has my back when I decided to continue attending Independence University including my former and present classmates. One person who I hate wanted me to go out to find work and learn the trade of the business but I wouldn’t listen. Taking a dead end job can’t help my cause plus going to this college would guarantee me a very successful career in Graphic Arts/Graphic Design. I wanna do exactly what the big gaming company does out there. Being a big gamer myself would be an advantage to my potential career instead of working in a store. If this works out, I can support myself and my mother instead of getting help from anyone else.
